What is an honest app?

An honest app makes its business model legible. It tells you what is free, what is paid, what data it touches, and what happens when you cancel.

1. No ads in the core tool If the app’s primary job is scanning, timing, converting, or organizing, the app should not interrupt that job to sell attention.
2. Pricing visible before commitment Users should not need to start a “free” trial to learn what the real price is.
3. Limits should be clear, not manipulative A free tier can be limited. What matters is whether the limit is explained upfront and whether the app still works well.
4. Privacy should be written in plain language “No analytics” means more than “we care about privacy.”
